Art Time!

I have been a little uncreative lately with Eli and Micah's craft projects. Essentially, I don't have time to plan anything out, so I have just let them color or cut with scissors. It's definitely time to get some fun things planned for our "stay at home days with mom." So, I've been looking through a lot of my Family Fun magazines lately and Micah spotted ice cream cones filled with pudding with sprinkles on top. It's not exactly a craft, but they had fun helping make pudding and decorating their "ice cream" with sprinkles.  (Side note: It's really not as early as it looks in these pictures. We did not have pudding for breakfast. Yes, they're still in their pj's, but I promise it was at least 10 am!)

One thing we have been struggling with lately is tattling. It's annoying. I hate to hear it and I'm finding many days filled with it! I had to have a solution, so we made a tattling tree! We went to the park and chose several large branches to bring home. The next day, I let the boys blow paint (they chose red) all over leaf outlines I had printed out.

They had so much fun painting that way, they did several more pictures when their leaves were finished. I also let Eli and Micah look for green items in magazines to cut out. We glued those on more leaf outlines.  (Eli did the three sparse ones at the top. He only wanted the green candy cane, but later decided to add more pictures to his leaves.)

Finally, I tied all of the leaves on our branches, covered our jar with paper and cut out a face and very big ears (our tree is a very good listener).  So far, we haven't had to use the tattle tree very much. The process of making the tree and talking about tattling seems to have helped. But just in case their memories lapse, they have a beautiful tree to talk to any time they want!

Eli and Micah are still enjoying their days at school.  They have made some cute art at school that I wanted to share with you.  Since it's too hot in Texas for a real snowman, they painted these melted snowmen! ;-)

The 2 year olds do this craft every year. I just think it's so cute!
