Trip to Kansas

Our trip to Kansas was quite an adventure with three young boys! I did a lot of planning ahead of time to keep the big boys occupied--and well fed. Eli, especially, has been interested in maps and states. He often asks me when we're in the car if we're "still in Texas." So, I thought it would be fun to make us a map of our journey from our house to Nana and Papa's house in Kansas. I plotted several things we would see along the way as well as parks we could stop at to stretch our legs. It turned out to be really helpful! (I also glued a magnet to one of their toy cars so we could move it along the highway!)

At one point in our trip, I sat in the back with the boys to hand out food and toys. It was pretty fun and Eli asked me to take his picture.

The park stops were a welcome change of pace in our day!

Great Grandma C finally got to meet and hold Joshua our first morning in Kansas.

Cousin Nevaeh got to meet and hold him, too!

Nana had her arms full with both of these babies whenever we were all together.

Amory was excited to follow her big cousins around and imitate everything they did.

Uncle Taylor and Aunt Roxy were excited to meet Joshua, too.

The kids (Eli in green, Micah in red), Paul and Papa had a lot of fun climbing, jumping and sliding!

Joshua got to explore, too.

Nevaeh, Papa, and Micah took a little break here.

One day of our visit, we got to see where Taylor and Roxy will be getting married. I was glad to get pictures with all my kiddos!

Joshua enjoyed all of the flowers.

It was very hot during our visit, so we spent a lot of time inside. One afternoon, we went to "Nana's school" to play.

Last year, Eli and Micah couldn't get these motorcycles to balance. This time, they were riding all over the big room!

We took Nevaeh with us to the children's museum.

Then, headed home for an afternoon of cousin play time.

My (Kristy) cousin was kind enough to let us swim at his new house. Eli and Micah were feeling brave and both jumped off the diving board!

And I got a little time to snuggle with my youngest niece.
Our trip home was better than our trip coming. The big boys knew what to expect and how long the drive was really going to take. They were very patient and kept themselves busy with their computers for most of the trip--with little asking "how long 'til we get there"? We had a great time seeing everyone and are looking forward to visiting again soon!
