Grandma's Table

Almost 40 years ago, my (Kristy) Grandma and Grandpa bought a table. It was a simple, round table with two leaves. This table could comfortably sit 4-8 people. The table was used for countless family dinners. Here's my mom (often known as Nana on this blog) at the table in the house where she grew up.

My mom and uncle grew up, left home and had kids of their own. The table stayed at my Grandma and Grandpa's house. Every Sunday, our family (cousins, aunts and uncles) would gather around the table for Sunday dinner. We would talk, laugh, and celebrate. We ate lots of good food! (My brother even got a dessert named after him in our church cookbook because of these celebrations!)

The grand kids grew up, but the table stayed.

A new generation has come to our family and they have eaten at the table at Grandma and Grandpa's house! (This is my Grandpa and Grandma with Eli, Christmas 2008.)
(Here are Eli and Micah, Thanksgiving 2009.)

Since my Grandpa died in 2009, Grandma has been cleaning out the house in order to move closer to family in town. The table has so many memories attached to it. It couldn't go to just anyone! A few weeks ago, I was honored to place my Grandma's table in our new house! Now, we're making our own memories at the table. We will eat countless family meals here, entertain friends and family, do crafts, and play games--all at Grandma C's table. Thank you, Grandma! We are so blessed by and through you! We love having your table in our home!

I think this is IDENTICAL (or at least very similar) to our kitchen table -- which used to belong to Matt's grandma! Fun!
