Spring Break!

Spring Break is always fun for us. Nana and Papa (Kristy's mom and dad) always come down. We usually have a project to work on and go to the rodeo. This year, like last, we went to the zoo--maybe not the best idea during spring break, but we had fun anyway.

Ask the boys their favorite part of the rodeo, and they'll tell you, "touching the goats." They touched more than goats, as you can see!

Eli really wanted to pet the Wallabies but this goat needed more attention.

Watching the chicks hatch was amazing to Eli and Micah.

A new exhibit to us this year was planting sunflower seeds. We've watered them regularly and they are growing well. It will be fun to plant them outside to see how tall they can get!

This year we visited a "Fun on the Farm" exhibit. They had chickens to feed, eggs to collect,

 cows to milk,

seeds to plant and vegetables to harvest.
The boys took all of their goods to the farmer's market where they "sold" them. With the "money" they were able to go to the grocery store and buy a small snack. They really had a great time and continue to talk about milking the cow!

Before and during spring break, we had a ladybug hatching in our backyard. Here is Micah with his captives--most of them survived the exploring.

When Eli and Micah were not collecting lady bugs, they were helping Paul and Papa build our new garden boxes.

Here's Eli saying "cheese" in front of one of the boxes in which we planted tomatoes and peppers. We also planted a variety of seeds that are yet to sprout.

At the zoo, we always have to see the Meerkats first (and usually once more before we leave).
Eli is giving a high five to his favorite animal!

Nana got really lucky and found plush Meerkats at the zoo's gift shop. Papa is trying to keep the Meerkat from taking a swim!

After Nana and Papa left, the boys and I went to the garden store and bought flowers for the front yard. They helped me plant them and haven't picked one yet! They are so sweet to their flowers, asking that they be watered every day and shouting "They're growing up!" every time we go outside.

I had made these bedtime chart holders before Spring Break,

but with Nana's help at nap times, I was able to finish these art work holders for the boys. They chose their frame colors and I found fabric to match. They love them and I love that we finally have something on the wall in the playroom!
