First Day of School

This week, the boys started pre-school! On Monday, we went for 90 minutes to meet the teacher and see the classroom. For part of that time, the parents were excused from the classroom to a meeting with the director.  After many "I don't want to go to school" cries from Micah and a few tears, he did great when we actually arrived at school. They both warmed up to their teachers quickly and even used their words to defend the toys they were playing with from other kids.

Today, they went for their first full day (9AM-2:30PM). Micah was still a little unsure, but didn't protest much. Eli was concerned about me and asked, "What are you going to do when I'm at school, Momma?" I wasn't sure how cooperative they would be in getting dressed and breakfast eaten in time to get to school, but they were great! We even had time for a few pictures.

Here are Micah (left) and Eli (right) outside our house with their backpacks and lunch boxes.

Here's Micah by his backpack in the hall outside of the classroom. (I intended on taking a picture of both, but Eli didn't want to cooperate.)

Here are Eli (left) and Micah (right) in their classroom.

Apparently, Eli and Micah had a great first day--they played outside, Eli participated in art--hand painting/stamping, and both took a short nap.  I guess they also corrected their teacher's version of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Jesus Loves Me." Their teacher reports that Eli even sang the "correct" version of "Twinkle, Twinkle" to the whole class! When I arrived to pick them up, neither was ready to go and asked to play a little longer. Both seem to be excited at the idea of going back next Wednesday!
