First Fishing Trip

Eli and Micah have been practicing fishing in our living room for months, but they got to go on their first real fishing trip the weekend before Easter.
Eli got to go first.
He caught a fish immediately!
He was so proud of himself (and Micah was clapping for him too)!
Micah got to go next with Mrs. D (Paul's co-worker and owner of the pond).
Micah was excited to pull the fish in, but a little nervous about it when he actually got it out of the water.
He loosened up a bit for G'ma's picture.
Paul and Grandpa had fun showing the boys how to watch the bobber for a fish.
Eli insisted on doing everything himself, including casting and reeling in. If you look closely, he has his pole upside down so he could turn the crank with his left hand.
Before we left, Paul cleaned the fish by the pond so we could eat the fish for dinner. Eli wanted to touch one, but Micah wasn't interested. Both boys watched Paul clean a couple of fish and asked a lot of questions. The whole process of catching the fish, killing them, then eating them all in the same day was a little too much for our plant eaters to handle.

While the big boys were fishing, Joshua got to play in his pack 'n play. I was hoping he would take a nap, but being outside was too much fun!

When we got home, we had a late lunch so the boys went down for nap late, which meant we missed our "window of opportunity" for naps. Instead, we took Eli and Micah outside for our first water play of the season.

The above and below pictures of Eli are hilarious to me as he gets so upset with us when we get a drop of water on his face during a bath. Apparently, he's over that!

The spinning umbrella trick was fun again this year.

Eli even tried to do it himself.
They just weren't getting wet enough, so they climbed on in!
