Thanksgiving Break

We had a great time over Thanksgiving break! We really needed some family time out of the ordinary routine and we definitely got it!

Paul has been talking with the boys a lot about going camping. He told them that they would start by setting up the tent in the living room and sleeping there.  The boys were all over that idea! Eli was happy to help set up the tent.

Micah worked really hard, too! (Look at that tongue!)

These are some really happy campers inside their tent.

The view from inside the tent.

Every night, Eli and Micah get to sing with Daddy and his guitar. Sitting in the tent while singing just made it better! After singing, and a lot of talking, the boys finally fell asleep and slept all night in the tent. They keep asking to do it again!

On Thanksgiving day, we loaded everyone into our car to head up to Grandma and Grandpa's house. I wasn't sure how Buddy was going to fit, but Paul insisted he would be fine. He was and settled into his new spot quickly. (Baby will ride in the empty seat next to Micah, in front of Eli.)

I'm not sure Buddy liked having a friend in the backseat, but Eli enjoyed it!

On Saturday, we made a trip down to the zoo. We knew we would probably get rained on, but we also figured it would be the last time the four of us could go--and a long time before any of us could go again! Micah requested to see the Meerkats (as always!) but they were hiding because of the rain. Eli wanted to play the drums in the Africa exhibit, but they were covered because of the rain. So, we had to explore some other areas instead. The chimpanzees were a huge hit with Eli and Micah. This one came right up to the window shortly after we arrived.

This one has quite a personality and showed Eli and Micah all of his teeth, after watching the boys through the glass for a very long time.

It rained on us after leaving the chimps, and before we got to the children's zoo. Good thing we were ready for it! We really didn't get too wet.

We explored the swap shop in the children's area while we waited out the rain. On our way to see the porcupines, we saw these turkeys. This one by Eli seemed really interested in the boys.

Eli and Micah enjoyed being one of a few families at the zoo. The River Otters were playful and no one else was blocking the exhibit!

After the rained moved through, it got really cold for Houston. Paul got a fire going in the fireplace and I fixed some hot cocoa for the boys. They loved it!

We can tell it's getting colder outside because Buddy is spending more time on the couch again. Ginger and Smudges wanted to join in on the party, too!

We are truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for!
